Where do the words come from?
Are the words written on my heart?
Are they hidden under my shoe?
Could they be found in a box locked in my head?
Where do they come from, how can they be found?
I imagined the words deep within,
but obviously they are missing
If they were found, I would write the poem that comes
from my heart, I'd use it as my outlet,
and express what I cannot voice
If I had the key I would unlock my heart
and let the words speak for themselves

I love the idea of this poem because I know exactly how this feels! I really like the different places you choose to look for the words. I like the idea at the end of unlocking your heart and letting the words speak for themselves, but it is slightly confusing because at the beginning you use heart and a locked box and then at the end you unlock your heart? I would suggest using different objects to avoid confusing your reader. Great job!
ReplyDeleteDear Ms. Austen,
ReplyDeleteI connected to your lines "If I had the key I would unlock my heart and let the words speak for themselves." I feel much the same; feeling what needs to be written but lacking the capacity to express it through words. Great work!
Sincerely,
Genevive
I like this poem. I like how you went looking for the words in different places but you still couldn't find where they are coming from. Good job this is some quality work.
